1. Gather Your Supplies
- Press-on nails
- Nail glue or adhesive tabs
- Nail file
- Cuticle pusher
- Alcohol Pad
2. Prepare Your Natural Nails
- Remove Old Polish: Use nail polish remover to take off any existing nail polish.
- Clean Your Nails: Wash your hands and dry them thoroughly.

4. Select and Fit the Press-On Nails
- Choose Sizes: Lay out the press-on nails and choose the ones that fit each of your natural nails base on your size.
- Check Fit: Press each press-on nail onto your natural nail to ensure it fits comfortably. If needed, file the edges of the press-on nails to fit better.
5. Apply Adhesive
- Nail Glue: If using nail glue, apply a small amount of glue to the back of the press-on nail. Also, apply a thin layer of glue to your natural nail.
- Adhesive Tabs: If using adhesive tabs, stick the tabs onto the back of the press-on nails or directly onto your natural nails.
6. Apply the Press-On Nails
- Position: Align the press-on nail with your natural nail and carefully press it down.
- Press Firmly: Apply firm pressure for about 10-20 seconds to ensure a strong bond. Be careful not to move the nail around once it’s in place.
7. Check for Gaps
- Inspect the edges of the press-on nails to ensure there are no gaps. If you notice any, gently press down on the edges to seal them.
- Avoid Water: For the first few hours, avoid exposing your nails to water to allow the adhesive to fully set.
- Be Gentle: Try to avoid using your nails as tools to prevent any accidental lifting or damage.
How do I remove press-on?
Removing press-on nails carefully is essential to avoid damaging your natural nails. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you remove them safely:
1. Gather Your Supplies
- Nail polish remover (optional)
- Cotton pads or swabs
- Cuticle pusher
- Nail file (optional)
- Warm, soapy water
- Optional: Cuticle oil or moisturizer
2. Soften the Adhesive
- Soak in Warm Soapy Water: Fill a bowl with warm water and a few drops of mild soap. Soak your nails in the water for about 10-15 minutes. This helps to soften the adhesive, making the press-on nails easier to remove.
- Dry Your Hands: Gently pat your hands dry with a towel.
3. Gently Lift the Press-On Nails
- Use a Cuticle Pusher: Once your nails are soft, use a cuticle pusher gently lift the edge of the press-on nail. Start at the edge of the nail and work your way around to loosen it from your natural nail.
- Be Cautious: Avoid using excessive force, as this can damage your natural nails. If you encounter resistance, it’s better to soak your nails a bit longer.
4. Remove Any Remaining Adhesive
- Gently Scrape Off: After the adhesive has softened, use a cuticle pusher to gently scrape off the adhesive tape and then use nail remover (optional) to wipe any remaining residue.
5. Clean and Buff Your Natural Nails
- Wash Hands: Wash your hands to remove any remaining nail polish remover and adhesive residue.
- Buff Your Nails: Lightly buff the surface of your natural nails with a nail buffer to smooth out any rough spots left by the press-on nails or adhesive.
6. Moisturize
- Apply Cuticle Oil: To restore moisture, apply cuticle oil or a hand cream to your nails and cuticles. This helps to keep your natural nails hydrated and healthy after the removal process.
Additional Tips
- Avoid Peeling Off: Never peel off press-on nails forcefully, as this can damage your natural nails and the surrounding skin.
- Use Non-Acetone Remover: If you have sensitive skin or are concerned about drying out your nails, opt for a non-acetone nail polish remover, though it might take longer to dissolve the adhesive.
